Education is at the heart of all careers, personal growth and societal transformation.

It is one of life's threads that weaves the entire tapestry of our collective experience together.

It cannot be experienced alone but must be shared with others!

What to Expect at the Conference:

  • Opening and Closing Showcases: featuring student and professional choreography.

  • Student Track: Colorado All-State Dance Ensemble, college entrance and scholarship audition classes, work with renowned choreographers, special elective workshops and performance opportunities.

  • Student Scholarships: Students who excel in talent, focus, dedication and artistry will  be considered for one of three scholarships awarded by CoDEO to be used towards their future dance education (i.e tuition for  a studio, workshop, or college).

  • Professional/Educator Track: engaging panel discussions,  a wide selection of workshops for educators both inside and outside of the studio, group movement sessions, performance opportunities, and the unexpected meeting of new friends!

  • Continuing Education Credit: Teachers may earn hours or credit for attending one or two days of the conference.

Know Before You Go!

We look forward to hosting you at the 2022 Dance Education Conference in Colorado Springs, CO at Liberty High School! Take a moment before you arrive to review some key information to ensure you have a great conference experience!


Registration and Conference Check-In

  • Event entrance is the main entrance of Liberty High School near the flagpole and across from the stadium.

  • Online registration closes at midnight on January 8th, 2022. You may register in-person the morning of the event.

  • Check-in opens at 8am on Saturday, Jan 15th in the Lobby.

  • You will receive your conference name badge, goodie bag, and schedule when you check-in. If you are with a group (studio/school) please have one representative check-in the entire group, as your items will be batched together.

  • Presenters and Choreographers should check-in a minimum of 30 minutes prior to their session.

  • If you have not completed an online waiver please bring signed printed waivers.


COVID Protocols and Safety Measures

  • This year for the safety of everyone we will be requiring attendees to wear masks indoors for our event except when eating or drinking. 

  • Mitigation measures will also include: limited class sizes, additional room to allow for social distancing during workshops, lunch and performances, and hand sanitizer stations

  • Any person who exhibits COVID-like symptoms, or feels ill in any way, should not attend the conference


Attendance at Conference Events

  • Registered students are expected to participate in workshops during each session time. Session times at which more than one class is offered students may choose their workshop, until the room has reached capacity. Students may have to make a secondary choice.

  • Schools and studios bringing students are asked to have adults to help supervise their students onsite during the conference.

  • Registered educators are invited to attend educator or student workshop sessions. Educators may not participate in choreographer workshop sessions.

  • All Presenters and choreographers are welcome to attend any sessions while not presenting. 

  • Conference Kick-off and Closing Ceremonies are free to attend for registered conference participants. Parents and other audience members may attend for $5.00 per performance. Audience members are also asked to wear masks.


Food and Beverage

  • Lunch will be provided both days and we will attempt to honor any dietary restrictions of attendees.

  • Please bring a water bottle (filling stations are available) and snacks if you will need them.

  • There is no food allowed in the Auditorium, Dance Studio, or Yoga Room.


Event Attire

  • Educators: most workshops have a movement element, so please wear clothing which is comfortable to move in. 

  • Students should wear dance attire for classes. Students should have dance shoes/socks which will be appropriate for any session they are attending (tap shoes, sneakers, etc…) and be aware they may also be asked to dance barefoot.

  • Students should additionally bring a black leotard/tight fitting top, black leggings and/or black shorts to wear for the performance on Sunday afternoon.

  • The temperature can be unpredictable in some of our spaces so please plan ahead and bring layers.


Travel and Parking

  • There is major construction at the intersection of Research and Powers. Please follow your GPS navigation to arrive at Liberty High School.

  • Parking is free for this event and is located in the main Liberty High School parking lots.



  • Hotels at the exits of I-25 and Interquest, Briargate, Academy or Woodmen are conveniently located for access to Liberty High School and have many food options for dinner.
